Life in India is…..AMAZING!! 30 degrees
everyday and no rain – we are coming to the end of the rainy season, so Marty
and I had been anticipating that – it has been raining here for 30 days
straight. But the rain stopped the day we arrived, and it hasn’t rained once
since!
Three hot meals everyday, all fresh with
chapattis. Masala dosa – yum! The
best tea you will ever have, everywhere you go.
Everything comes alive at night – markets,
shops, food. Everything is so cheap! Aussie dollar is so strong! - we are so blessed with a great exchange rate.
Feeling jealous yet???
Ok, so it’s not all roses. Yes, the weather
is great….but humidity is crazy! Today is 93% humidity, which equals constant
sweating with not much air-conditioning around.
Food is so wonderful…..but dinner isn’t
eaten until after 10.00pm! Not doing much for our health plan! We also have to
be very careful what we eat and drink so that our bodies can stomach it.
Mosquitoes also come alive at night….fly
screens aren’t really the done thing here, so we have many bites and swollen
feet. We must share our houses with the local wildlife – mosquitoes, lizards
& even a family of monkeys.
Great prices all around, but hard for us to
calculate! Doing our heads in trying to work things out sometimes. And a small
amount of Aussie dollars equals wads of rupees!
We love it here so much, but there is much
to learn and much to get used to. It is a very different culture, with a
different pace and way of life.
We have rented a flat to live and will be
moving in sometime next week, once we have organised basic furniture and bits
and pieces. The flat is only about 1km from the children’s home, so we can walk
there everyday. It is also on the way for Pushpa and others, so there is no
problem with getting picked up and dropped off. The landlords are a lovely
Catholic couple, and we are feeling very much at peace about living here.
There is not much routine at the moment,
and we are in a bit of limbo, just settling in and also working with ‘Indian time’
and the pace of how things are done here.

we have moved in….there are spare rooms, so if you are inclined to visit, there
is a place for you!

Yay! Exciting.... Would love some of that weather thanks! Hehehe not sure about the extreme humidity tho.... Sweating up a storm... Marty I feel u- I kno Kaz would b loving it- never cold again haha. On the train contemplating filling that spare bedroom for a short visit..... ! Love u guys! Xxx
