At the conclusion of exams and the end of this term, the girls’ school hosted their annual Sports Day, to which parents and friends are invited. The girls were excited to have Marty and I come along and see, and we were equally pumped to have this opportunity.
It’s quite different from what we would think of as sports days in Australia. It began with each of the various houses (red, green and blue) marching in to the open area. After these entrances were completed, there were a series of sporting events like shotput, sack race, and a few other things in which selected students participated. Then there were skits, dances and a speech from a local government official. One of our Ashirvad girls, Sharon, was part of a performance of traditional Maharastrian dancing and costume.
